Tropical Sunset Smoothie (Print Version)

Vibrant layers of mango, passion fruit, and orange juice blended with creamy yogurt for a fresh, colorful drink.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Mango Layer

01 - 1 cup ripe mango, peeled and diced (fresh or frozen)
02 - 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
03 - 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
04 - 2 to 3 tablespoons water, as needed

→ Passion Fruit Layer

05 - 1/2 cup passion fruit pulp (from about 3 to 4 passion fruits)
06 - 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
07 - 1 tablespoon honey (optional)

→ Orange Juice Layer

08 - 3/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
09 - 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
10 - 1 teaspoon honey (optional)

# How to Make It:

01 - Use three clean blending containers or rinse the blender between blending each layer.
02 - Blend mango, Greek yogurt, honey, and water until smooth and thick; then divide evenly into the bottoms of two clear glasses.
03 - Blend passion fruit pulp with Greek yogurt and honey until creamy. Carefully spoon or pour this layer over the mango base to maintain distinct layering.
04 - Blend orange juice, Greek yogurt, and honey until smooth. Gently layer this mixture atop the passion fruit layer.
05 - Tilt the glass slightly and pour each layer slowly, using the back of a spoon to prevent mixing and form a defined ombré gradient.
06 - Optionally garnish with a fresh fruit slice or mint sprig and serve immediately.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • It tastes like a tropical vacation in a glass, but comes together in the time it takes your coffee to cool.
  • The layering trick is easier than you'd think and impresses everyone without any fancy equipment or skills.
  • It's naturally sweet, protein-packed, and feels indulgent enough for dessert but wholesome enough for breakfast.
02 -
  • Frozen fruit creates thicker blends that layer beautifully, while room-temperature fruit tends to be too thin and the layers blur together—I learned this after three failed attempts.
  • The spoon trick isn't just decoration; pouring each layer slowly over the back of a spoon actually prevents them from mixing and keeps that ombré effect alive.
03 -
  • Use frozen mango and passion fruit if fresh isn't available—they actually create better-defined layers because the blend is thicker and stays put longer.
  • The back-of-spoon pouring technique is a game-changer; it's not cheating, it's how bartenders layer drinks, and it works perfectly for smoothies too.
