Strawberry Banana Bread Oats (Print Version)

Wholesome oats with strawberries, banana, and walnuts soaked overnight for a creamy, nutritious start to the day.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Oats Base

01 - 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
02 - 1 cup milk, dairy or plant-based
03 - 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
04 - 1 tablespoon chia seeds
05 - 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
06 - 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
07 - 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
08 - Pinch of salt

→ Fruit and Add-ins

09 - 1 ripe banana, mashed
10 - 3/4 cup fresh strawberries, diced
11 - 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped

→ Toppings

12 - Fresh strawberries, sliced
13 - Banana slices
14 - Walnuts, chopped
15 - Honey or maple syrup

# How to Make It:

01 - In a medium bowl or mason jar, combine oats, milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt. Stir thoroughly until well mixed.
02 - Fold in the mashed banana, diced strawberries, and chopped walnuts. Mix gently to distribute all ingredients evenly throughout the mixture.
03 - Cover and refrigerate overnight for at least 6 hours until the oats are fully hydrated and creamy.
04 - In the morning, stir the oats well. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of milk to reach desired consistency.
05 - Divide the oat mixture between two bowls or jars. Top with additional strawberries, banana slices, walnuts, and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup if desired. Serve chilled.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • Zero morning effort: Mix it the night before and you've already won breakfast tomorrow.
  • It tastes like dessert: Honest banana bread flavor with fresh strawberries and walnuts, but it's totally healthy.
  • Endlessly customizable: Swap the fruit, nuts, or milk based on what you have or what you're craving.
02 -
  • Mash your banana really well: I learned this the hard way when I left chunks that turned gritty—creamy mashed banana is what gives this its almost bread pudding texture.
  • Don't skip the salt: It sounds random but a pinch of salt is the difference between this tasting delicious and tasting like something's missing but you can't figure out what.
03 -
  • Stir it really well the night before: Spend an extra 30 seconds making sure everything is evenly mixed, because separated ingredients at the bottom of the jar is less fun than a creamy distribution.
  • Keep a mason jar in the fridge at all times: Once you start doing this, you'll want overnight oats available basically always, and having jars ready makes it genuinely effortless.
