Spiced Bacon Twists (Print Version)

Sweet and savory bacon strips kissed with cinnamon and sugar, baked to crisp caramelized perfection.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Bacon

01 - 12 slices thick-cut bacon

→ Spiced Sugar Mixture

02 - 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
03 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
04 - 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

# How to Make It:

01 - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil, then place a wire rack on top.
02 - In a shallow dish, thoroughly mix the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and cayenne pepper if using.
03 - Dredge each bacon slice in the spiced sugar mixture, ensuring both sides are evenly coated.
04 - Twist each coated bacon slice several times to create spirals, then arrange them spaced apart on the wire rack.
05 - Sprinkle any remaining spiced sugar mixture over the twisted bacon strips.
06 - Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, rotating the tray halfway through to achieve even crispiness and caramelization.
07 - Allow the bacon twists to cool for 5 minutes so the caramelized coating can set before serving.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • They taste like candy and breakfast had a beautiful moment together.
  • Takes barely any hands-on time, mostly just waiting for the oven to do the magic.
  • Works as an appetizer, a snack straight from the cooling rack, or crumbled over salads for an unexpected crunch.
02 -
  • Don't skip the wire rack—laying bacon flat on the sheet lets it sit in its own rendered fat, and you'll end up with chewy instead of crispy.
  • The sugar can burn if your oven runs hot, so keep an eye on that second half of baking and rotate if the edges start looking too dark.
03 -
  • Pack the brown sugar into your measuring cup so you get the right amount of sweetness and caramel formation.
  • If you're doubling the recipe, use two baking sheets and swap their positions halfway through baking for even cooking across both batches.
