01 - 1 pound breakfast sausage
02 - 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
03 - 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
04 - 1 tablespoon baking powder
05 - 1 3/4 - 2 cups buttermilk
06 - 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
07 - 1/2 cup salted butter, melted

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). Spray a 9x9-inch glass or ceramic baking dish with nonstick spray.
02 - Cook breakfast sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat until no pink remains, about 8-10 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
03 - In a medium bowl, mix flour, sugar, and baking powder. Add buttermilk and stir until a sticky batter forms, adding more buttermilk if needed. Gently stir in cheese and cooked sausage.
04 - Pour melted butter into the prepared baking dish. Add biscuit dough on top and spread evenly. Cut dough into 9 squares.
05 - Bake on the middle rack for 25-30 minutes, rotating once, until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
