Ribbon Dancer Turkey Rolls (Print Version)

Carrot and cucumber ribbons encase smoked turkey for a refreshing, easy-to-make starter.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Vegetables

01 - 2 large carrots, peeled
02 - 1 large cucumber, ends trimmed

→ Meats

03 - 8 slices smoked turkey breast

→ Dairy

04 - 2 oz cream cheese, softened

→ Fresh Herbs

05 - 2 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped
06 - 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped (optional)

→ Seasoning

07 - Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

# How to Make It:

01 - Using a vegetable peeler or mandoline, slice the carrots and cucumber lengthwise into long, thin ribbons.
02 - Lay the smoked turkey slices flat on a clean surface and optionally spread a thin layer of softened cream cheese on each slice, then sprinkle with chopped chives and dill.
03 - Starting at one end, roll each turkey slice tightly into a cylinder.
04 - Wrap a cucumber ribbon followed by a carrot ribbon around each turkey roll, securing the ends beneath or with toothpicks if necessary.
05 - Arrange the ribbon-wrapped turkey rolls on a serving platter and sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper and extra herbs if desired.
06 - Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • It looks like you spent hours in the kitchen when it actually takes twenty minutes flat.
  • You can prep everything ahead and just arrange it right before guests arrive, which means you get to actually enjoy the party.
  • The whole thing is naturally light and gluten-free, so everyone at your table can dive in without worry.
02 -
  • The thinner your ribbons, the more elegant the presentation—but they also become more fragile, so take your time and don't rush the peeling.
  • If your ribbons tear, just layer them anyway; a toothpick hidden underneath will hold everything in place and no one will know.
03 -
  • If your ribbons are stubborn or breaking, dip your peeler briefly under warm water and try again—it somehow makes the strokes smoother.
  • Make the turkey rolls and ribbons separately, then assemble everything right before serving so the vegetables stay crisp instead of wilting against the turkey.
