# Ingredients:

→ Dill-Jalapeño Relish

01 - 250 ml dill pickles, finely diced
02 - 1 fresh jalapeño, seeded and finely diced
03 - 1 small shallot, finely diced
04 - 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
05 - 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
06 - 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
07 - 0.5 teaspoon salt
08 - 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper

→ Smash Burgers

09 - 500 grams plant-based ground beef alternative
10 - 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, for griddle
11 - 4 slices plant-based cheddar cheese (optional)
12 - Salt, to taste
13 - Black pepper, to taste

→ Assembly

14 - 4 burger buns, split (vegan if desired)
15 - 4 leaves crisp lettuce
16 - 4 slices ripe tomato
17 - 2 tablespoons vegan mayonnaise or classic mayonnaise
18 - 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Combine diced dill pickles, jalapeño, shallot, fresh dill, sugar, white wine vinegar, salt, and black pepper in a mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly and refrigerate until needed.
02 - Divide plant-based ground into 4 equal portions (about 125 grams each) and form into loose balls.
03 - Heat a griddle or large cast-iron skillet over high heat. Lightly brush the surface with vegetable oil.
04 - Place burger balls onto the hot griddle. Using a sturdy spatula or burger press, firmly smash each ball into a thin patty. Season with salt and black pepper.
05 - Cook patties for 2 to 3 minutes until edges are crisp and well browned. Flip each patty, add a slice of plant-based cheddar cheese (if using), and cook an additional 1 to 2 minutes until cheese is melted and patty is browned.
06 - Place buns cut-side down on the griddle and toast until golden brown.
07 - Spread mayonnaise and mustard on the bottom of each toasted bun. Add a lettuce leaf and a tomato slice. Top with the hot plant-based patty and a generous spoonful of dill-jalapeño relish. Cap with the top bun and serve immediately.

# Additional Notes:

01 - For extra heat, add pickled jalapeños to the relish.
02 - Opt for vegan buns and cheese for a fully vegan preparation.
03 - Pairs well with oven-baked fries or a crisp lager.
04 - The relish can be made one day in advance to deepen the flavors.
