Old-Fashioned Rice Pudding (Print Version)

A creamy, comforting classic with delicate sweetness and hints of vanilla and cinnamon, perfect served warm or chilled.

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1/2 cup uncooked white rice (short or medium grain preferred)
02 - 4 cups whole milk (or a mix of milk and cream for extra richness)
03 - 1/3 cup granulated sugar
04 - 1/4 tsp salt
05 - 1 tsp vanilla extract
06 - 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (plus more for topping)
07 - 1/4 cup raisins (optional)

# Steps to Follow:

01 - In a medium saucepan, combine rice, milk, sugar, and salt.
02 - Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
03 - Reduce heat to low. Cook uncovered for about 35–40 minutes, stirring often, until the mixture thickens and the rice is very tender.
04 - Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, cinnamon, and raisins if using.
05 - Spoon into serving bowls. Serve warm or let cool and refrigerate for a few hours if you prefer it chilled.
06 - Sprinkle with extra cinnamon before serving.

# Additional Notes:

01 - For a richer flavor, replace 1 cup of milk with heavy cream.
02 - Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar to taste.
03 - For extra texture, top with toasted nuts like almonds or pecans.
