In a medium saucepan, combine rice, milk, sugar, and salt.

Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.

Reduce heat to low. Cook uncovered for about 35–40 minutes, stirring often, until the mixture thickens and the rice is very tender.

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, cinnamon, and raisins if using.
