# What You’ll Need:

→ Protein

01 - 500 g (1.1 lbs) lean ground beef (at least 90% lean)

→ Vegetables

02 - 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
03 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
04 - 1 medium red bell pepper, diced
05 - 1 cup (150 g) frozen peas
06 - 2 cups (300 g) cooked brown rice (or cauliflower rice for lower carbs)
07 - 2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)

→ Sauce

08 - 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
09 - 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for depth)
10 - 1 tbsp sriracha or chili sauce (optional, for heat)
11 - 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
12 - 1 tsp honey or brown sugar
13 - 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

→ Toppings (optional)

14 - 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
15 - Fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped

# How to Make It:

01 - In a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through (about 5 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
02 - Add the chopped onion and garlic. Sauté for 2 minutes until fragrant and slightly softened.
03 - Stir in the diced red bell pepper and cook for another 2 minutes.
04 - Add the frozen peas and cook for 1 minute until heated through.
05 - In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sriracha, sesame oil, honey, and black pepper.
06 - Pour the sauce into the skillet, stir well, and simmer for 2 minutes until everything is coated and heated.
07 - Divide the cooked rice among serving bowls. Top with the beef and vegetable mixture.
08 - Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and fresh herbs if desired. Serve immediately.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • It comes together in under half an hour so you can feed a crowd without feeling frantic.
  • The sauce is simple but layered so it tastes like you spent all afternoon on it when you did not.
02 -
  • If you use very lean beef you may not need to drain anything so taste and check the pan before discarding liquid.
  • To avoid soggy rice let the skillet simmer briefly so the sauce reduces and clings to the beef and veg.
03 -
  • Brown the beef in a hot pan without overcrowding so it develops that toasty meaty flavor.
  • Adjust the soy sauce then add a little honey to balance it rather than oversalting at the start.
