Goat Cheese Hot Honey Chicken (Print Version)

Crispy sourdough with goat cheese, chicken, hot honey, and chili flakes for a sweet-spicy kick.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Bread

01 - 4 slices sourdough bread

→ Dairy

02 - 3.5 oz goat cheese, softened
03 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

→ Protein

04 - 1 cup cooked shredded chicken

→ Sauces & Seasonings

05 - 2 tablespoons hot honey
06 - 0.5 teaspoon chili flakes
07 - Salt and black pepper to taste

# How to Make It:

01 - In a bowl, combine shredded chicken with 1 tablespoon hot honey, 0.5 teaspoon chili flakes, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly to coat.
02 - Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each bread slice.
03 - Place two slices buttered side down on a clean surface. Spread half the goat cheese evenly onto each slice.
04 - Top the goat cheese with the hot honey chicken mixture, spreading evenly across each slice.
05 - Drizzle the remaining hot honey over the chicken, then crumble any remaining goat cheese on top.
06 - Place the remaining bread slices on top with buttered side facing up.
07 - Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place sandwiches in the pan and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until bread is golden and crisp and cheese is melted.
08 - Remove from heat, slice in half, and sprinkle with extra chili flakes if desired. Serve hot.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • It takes barely any time but tastes like something you'd order at a cafe with exposed brick and too many plants.
  • The goat cheese melts into this creamy, tangy layer that makes regular cheddar feel like a missed opportunity.
  • Hot honey is magic, sweet enough to balance the richness, spicy enough to keep you coming back for another bite.
  • You can use rotisserie chicken and skip half the work without losing any of the flavor.
02 -
  • If your goat cheese is too cold, it won't spread and you'll end up with clumps instead of an even creamy layer, so let it sit out for ten minutes first.
  • Don't crank the heat too high or the bread will burn before the cheese melts, medium heat is your friend here.
  • Press gently with your spatula while cooking, it helps everything meld together without squishing out all the filling.
03 -
  • Let your skillet preheat properly before adding the sandwiches, a hot pan means even browning and no sticking.
  • Use a spatula to press down gently while cooking, it helps the cheese melt faster and creates better contact with the heat.
  • If your hot honey is too thick, warm it for a few seconds in the microwave so it drizzles easily.
  • Don't overload the sandwich or it'll be impossible to flip without losing half the filling.
