Beef and Bean Chili (Print Version)

A bold, hearty dish packed with ground beef, beans, tomatoes, and spices — perfect for game day or a cozy night in.

# Ingredients:

→ Meat & Aromatics

01 - 1 tbsp olive oil
02 - 1 medium onion, chopped
03 - 3 garlic cloves, minced
04 - 680 g ground beef

→ Base & Seasoning

05 - 2 tbsp tomato paste
06 - 2 tbsp chili powder
07 - 1 tsp ground cumin
08 - 1 tsp smoked paprika
09 - 1/2 tsp dried oregano
10 - 1/2 tsp salt
11 - 1/4 tsp black pepper
12 - 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

→ Beans & Tomatoes

13 - 1 can (425 g) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
14 - 1 can (425 g) black beans, drained and rinsed
15 - 1 can (800 g) crushed tomatoes
16 - 240 ml beef broth or water

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onion and cook for 4–5 minutes until softened.
02 - Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.
03 - Stir in tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, and cayenne (if using). Cook for 2 minutes to bloom the spices.
04 - Add beans, crushed tomatoes, and beef broth. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
05 - Reduce heat to low, cover partially, and let simmer for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
06 - Adjust seasoning to taste before serving.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Garnish with shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro, or jalapeños.
02 - Add corn or bell peppers for variety.
03 - Can be made in a slow cooker after browning the meat and aromatics.
